We are hiring for the 2017-18 school year

School cafeteria employees are skilled professionals in the food service industry.  No longer referred to as "lunch ladies," they offer more to students than simply handing out school breakfasts and lunches and are one of many groups of people who can contribute to a child's  education.  Working alongside teachers, coaches, counselors, librarians, and other school personnel, cafeteria employees can make a difference in the life of a child.  By preparing and serving healthy meals, they help support the core mission of education, especially  when it comes to boosting student's concentration, focus, and cognitive function

Summer Food Service Program

Children need good food all year long, even when they're not in school.  Omaha Public Schools proudly sponsors the Summer Food Service Program, providing over 300,000 healthy meals to children 1-18 years old, free of charge each summer.

Thanks to the Federally funded program (SFSP), children get the nutrition they need to learn, play and grow during vacation when they do not eat at school.  Summer meals act as an extra "magnet" to draw children to activities and activities draw children to nutritional meals.

The Summer Poster link to the right lists the locations, dates and times or text "Eat up" to 877-877 or call 2-1-1.

Student Balances

The end of the school year is drawing to a close, and questions arise regarding the funds remaining in our student’s accounts.

*Any funds remaining in a student's account, except for the graduating seniors, will automatically be carried over to the 2017-18 school year unless parents/guardians notify Nutrition Services.  Parents/guardians may request a refund or transfer the balance to siblings or other children.

*Regarding the graduating seniors, funds ($5.00 or more) will be automatically refunded to the parent/guardian who is listed as the contact in Infinite Campus. They do not need to contact us. Parents/guardians may also request a transfer of the remaining balance to siblings or other children.  Or if a parent/guardian has a balance of less than $5.00 they may also request a refund.

*Parents/guardians of students who will not be returning to Omaha Public Schools may request a refund or a transfer of the balance to siblings or other children.

All refund or balance transfer requests may be directed to the Cafeteria Manager or the Nutrition Services Office, 531-299-9437.
