OPS Head Start will provide an educational setting, with qualified staff to promote school readiness and instill the fundamentals of learning, respect, health, nutrition, cognitive, and social emotional development of a diverse population of preschool children. We will promote the empowerment of parents and development of partnerships within the Douglas County community, to engage them in the Head Start program governance process.
The purpose of the OPSHS and EHS program is to provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The District stands by established values to commit resources toward educating and advocating for children and families. The District will continue to collaborate with families and the community to develop opportunities for healthy living, self sufficiency and empowerment.

The OPS Early Childhood Department is extending the
application/screening process for its prekindergarten program through
the month of June.
To be eligible for the program, your child
must be 4-years-old on or before July 31, 2014, and must reside within
the Omaha Public Schools' boundaries. To apply for the program, you
must complete an application and you must have your child screened.
