The Early Childhood Program is no longer taking applications for the 2017-2018 school year. All complete applications taken during application days will be processed for consideration for the early childhood program. We select children for our program based on various student needs and classroom availability. In early July, families who completed an application will receive a letter that indicates if their child was selected for enrollment or if their child will be placed onto our waitlist. Thank you for your patience.

Welcome to Omaha Public Schools Head Start. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality services to our children and families. We recognize that parents are the primary educators of their children. As Head Start staff, we support families by providing opportunities for them to be involved in their child's education and assist families in setting achievable goals. Our Head Start/Early Head Start grant provides services to 949 children. Omaha Public Schools partners with EDUCARE of Omaha, as a delegate who serves our Early Head Start as well as Head Start families.

The Head Start Program also works collaboratively with the district's Pre-K and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programs to provide integrated preschool services across the school district. Our programs work together to meet Nebraska Department of Education standards and Head Start Performance Standards. This inclusive approach allows us to enhance our existing preschool programs to ensure children's school readiness, social/emotional and physical health, as well as ensuring families' needs are being met.
