Omaha Public Schools elementary mathematics curriculum is aligned with the Nebraska Mathematics Standards
and is supported by rigorous instructional practices as detailed in the OPS
Action Plan for Student Achievement. The curriculum is balanced with curricular content and instructional
approaches. These approaches include the use of the concrete to pictorial to
abstract method to teach multiple representations of the math skills/concepts and
literacy/language rich math classrooms where students talk and write about math
to deepen their conceptual understanding.
