Inspire every student to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

It is the goal of the Omaha Public Schools' Physical Education Program to provide students with developmentally appropriate learning opportunities with meaningful content and instruction. All students will be provided opportunities to develop health-related fitness, physical competence, cognitive understanding, and positive attitudes about physical activity that promote a healthy and physically active lifestyle.

Physical Education instructors believe Physical Education is essential to the education of the whole child. They Physical Education Program provides opportunities for students to attain the skills, knowledge and attitudes essential for a healthy lifestyle.

To provide a high quality Professional Development program for instructors.
          Objective 1: Create a professional development plan for teachers
          Objective 2: Provide national, state and district-wide networking opportunities for Physical Education teachers.

To create an articulated K-12 Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Program.
Objective 1: Develop and implement a K-12 Curriculum Framework for physical Education.
Objective 2: Establish Best Practices for Physical Education Instructors.
Objective 3: Align Physical Education assessment practices district-wide.

Improve environments that will appropriately address the needs of a diverse/expanding population.
         Objective 1: Create a professional development plan for teachers
         Objective 2: Provide national, state and district-wide networking opportunities for Physical Education teachers.
