Elementary Reading/Writing

Our staff will provide:
• Be prepared to participate as literate, contributing members in a global society with foundational skills and strategies in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
• High quality instruction grounded in research based best practices.
• Direct and explicit instruction in the components of literacy: comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, phonemic awareness, phonics, word study, and writing.
• Differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each child based upon on-going monitoring and assessment.

Our students will:
• Apply skills and strategies to become active, purposeful, thoughtful, and competent readers, writers, listeners, and speakers.
• Demonstrate high levels of understanding, effective communication skills, and independence as problem solvers.
