On October 13, 2016, Omaha Public Schools celebrated National Farm to School Month by CRUNCHING into a locally or regionally grown apple during the Midwest Great Apple Crunch!
Midwest states of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North
Dakota, Oklahoma, and South Dakota participated in this GREAT
event! It highlights FARM to SCHOOL and other local food purchasing initiatives which are happening throughout the region.
The apples our students and staff CRUNCHED were Jonathan Apples which were grown in South Eastern Nebraska and Northwestern Missouri.
