Board President Message

On May 1, the Accountability Committee made a recommendation that OPS retain Mark Evans as superintendent for the 2017-18 school year to create stability as the Board begins the search for the next superintendent.

The Board of Education voted to direct Board Officers to enter into contract negotiations with Mr. Evans to serve as superintendent for the 2017-18 school year (July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018). The contract was brought before the entire board and then approved on June 2. It is available to review here.

The board of education and Mr. Evans remain committed to building upon the strong momentum built until his successor is identified and placed.

An update will be provided regarding next steps for the restart of the superintendent search once more information is available.

Omaha Public Schools is committed to sharing information on the superintendent search process,
