Early Childhood Application Days Schedule

Our Early Childhood Program offers a wide range of quality Early Childhood Programs. If you have a child who will be three or four years old on or before July 31, 2018, we invite you to apply for our Early Childhood Program for the 2018-2019 school year. Application days begin in February and continue through March.  We encourage you to attend your neighborhood school's scheduled date, however if that date does not work for your family you are welcome to attend any of the scheduled dates.  You will need to bring your child for screening, the child’s birth certificate, the child’s immunization record, proof of address and proof of 2017 family income. Good morning Families,
Tuesday, August 22nd, is the official start date for our Early Childhood children. We are looking forward to a wonderful 2017-2018 school year.

Welcome to Omaha Public Schools Head Start. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality services to our children and families. We recognize that parents are the primary educators of their children. As Head Start staff, we support families by providing opportunities for them to be involved in their child's education and assist families in setting achievable goals. Our Head Start/Early Head Start grant provides services to 949 children. Omaha Public Schools partners with EDUCARE of Omaha, as a delegate who serves our Early Head Start as well as Head Start families.

The Head Start Program also works collaboratively with the district's Pre-K and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programs to provide integrated preschool services across the school district. Our programs work together to meet Nebraska Department of Education standards and Head Start Performance Standards. This inclusive approach allows us to enhance our existing preschool programs to ensure children's school readiness, social/emotional and physical health, as well as ensuring families' needs are being met.
