Board Approves Name for Bluestem Middle School, Scheduled to Open in 2023

Our District is thrilled to announce the name for our new middle school scheduled to open at 42nd and Y Street in August 2023.

The Board of Education-approved name is Bluestem Middle School.

A committee representing each school's incoming students and families worked with district staff and school leadership in a series of meetings to brainstorm and recommend a name and mascot for each of Omaha Public Schools' five new schools, scheduled to open in 2022 and 2023.

This recommendation was presented to the Board of Education on Monday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. and approved at that meeting.
