ACADEMIC RESOURCES

On Monday, March 16, 2020, Omaha Public Schools began a closure to help limit the spread of COVID-19 across the community. At this time, there is no tentative return date. For information on the closure, please click here.

New Enrollments
While we are unable to enroll students into traditional classrooms during the district closure, we have provided information and documents that will expedite enrollment and school assignment when the district reopens. Please click here for enrollment documents and information.

We strive to continue learning opportunities for students through a closure.

These resources are available for your family. If you have questions specific to your student's classroom or school, please contact your teacher or principal directly by email. If you have general questions about district operations at this time, please email info@ops.org. Because of the large volume of messages we may receive, please allow three business days for a reply.

Continued Learning Opportunities for Students

In the event of an extended school closure due to health concerns, learning opportunities remain a priority. We have plans in place to ensure students can stay engaged throughout this closure.

Students in
Elementary School:
All elementary students will receive learning packets. The packets are grade-specific and provide lessons on reading, writing and math. Families are asked to complete the packets throughout the closure. Once a student has completed their packet lesson for the day, parents are encouraged to have their student read a great book! Packets do not need to be returned to school. Scroll down to find grade-specific lessons for your child.

Students in
Middle and High School:

Students will be provided one lesson per week, per class via a digital platform. More information will be forthcoming from individual teachers. Students will be expected to complete the lessons during the closure. The lessons are designed to keep students engaged in learning but will not be graded.  Families who have concerns about their student’s device/electronic access should reach out to their child’s school.

All Students

Thanks to a great partnership Omaha Public Schools has with Scholastic, all families have access to online reading materials.

The Learning at Home Site, provided by Scholastic, is for pre-K - grades 9+ and is a completely free resource to be used at home. There will be approximately three hours of learning opportunities that will include projects based on exciting articles and stories, virtual field trips, reading and geography challenges and more. Click here for access!
